Maxwell's Summer Cut

Maxwell loves getting his hair cut once it is warm outside. From October through April, I let it grow out. Come warmer weather, he goes to the groomer and gets a puppy cut. Makes it easier to wash him when he plays in the mud or goes swimming.

Thank you for the comments. I have a picture of Max with his sister Tallulah posted on the share photos. Tallulah stays long year round. Her hair isn't as thick as Max's. We keep up with our routine year round so that he is always used to being groomed. I use a tangle teaser from Amazon on him every day and he likes the way that feels on long and short hair. I use a comb around his face and on his body when he gets longer. I rub coconut oil on his coat for extra conditioning especially around the harness, where he gets the most mats. It is really towards the spring when he starts to get matted. I don't think that it is necessary to groom every day but I started it as a puppy and keep it as part of our routine and bonding.

How difficult is it to groom Max's hair in the colder months when you let is hair grow out?

Does he mind having his hair groomed ?

Thank you for your comments. Max stays pretty white on his own. I do find that in the spring he collects a lot of pollen and leaves, so I bathe him more often, about every other week. The worst comes from fresh mulch on his paws. He loves to dig in the flower beds and comes in with black paws and muzzle. I soak his paws in the sink and use a whitening shampoo. I think that using conditioner after a bath keeps his coat cleaner too.

He's so adorable. Do you do anything to keep him so white and stain-free or is that just how he is naturally?
