Cute Dog Collars

Looking for some high fashion or bling? What about having a collar that reflects your dog's personality?

Training Collars

The choke collar:

Designed for training and it’s made so that the dog controls the pressure around his neck and will stop pulling when it becomes uncomfortable. It’s not recommended for puppies, small dogs or dogs with long coats like the Coton de Tulear.

Halter Collars:

This type of collar provides more control while training your dog to walk on his leash without pulling. Usually this is used only when training on going for walks. A regular nylon buckle collar can be used around the house.

Harnesses:

Harnesses are safe and effective for small breeds like the Coton de Tulear. Make sure you get the right fit.

No Bark Dog Collars (Anti-Bark Collars)

These come in 3 main types:
  1. Citronella spray- emits a smell that is offensive to dogs. This is supposed to be a deterrent when the dog barks. The toxins can cause a potential health concern if ingested or gets in the dog’s eyes.

  2. Sonic – Emits a high pitched sound as a deterrent to barking. It’s not audible to humans.

  3. Electronic – Emits an electrical shock when the dog barks. Yikes. That speaks for itself.

Obviously these methods are for dogs with severe barking problems and when other training methods have been proven to be ineffective. If used short term to correct a severe problem, these collars can actually be a good solution.

Everyday Dog and Puppy Collars

Cute dog collars should also be safe and functional.

Nylon Collars These are a great choice for almost all dogs. Make sure that the collar fits tight enough so he can’t slip out of it but loose enough for him to be comfortable. They’re very durable and easy to clean. Nylon dog training collars are also a safe choice for your new puppy.

Leather dog collars A thin leather collar is also great for dogs like the Coton de Tulear. They’re also durable.

Reflective dog collar These are great for walking your dog at night.
