My coton de tulear is 7 years old and I've never had a problem until last month when he started licking his bum one night. He was doing this consistently for a day or two until I decided to take a peek and see if there was anything there. I saw a large red lump that I thought was a bee staying so I immediately took him to the vet.

They immediately knew what the problem was. And infected anal gland. He had never had any problems until now so I was a little surprised. They had to lanced and cleaned it out... the poor little guy. Then he was on antibiotics and steroid for a week or two. He's been fine since.

I have heard that pumpkin and ground flaxseed can help with this and add the fiber needed to naturally express these glands.

Since you took her in and they expressed the glands, she might continue to lick for a while. My Pogo did also. Hopefully it will take care of the problem - but try the pumpkin or flax seed for preventive measures.
