Suggestions for dog cone collar

Please suggest what I can use that's better than a cone collar after neutering. My dog seems to even be able to reach the neutered area. And of course, the inconvenience.

Exercise Arm band NEW
by: Tx. Coton

My coton is 8 yrs old. She was neutered at 6 mos. we did not use the cone. I had a "flash" idea when I saw my exercise stretch arm band. We put it over the body at the tummy and made over how beautiful and pretty she was. She never touched the band or the wound and pranced about like a queen. She is and was a very active dog. I just had to worry about her jumping on and off things. She still does this. Love my coton.

Soft collar NEW

They make new cones that are softer and easier for dogs to move around in. I got mine at Petco and it worked great.

post op cone head NEW

After tuffy's recent surgery he had to wear the cone. I used a wide ribbon through the neck holes and wove it around his dog collar on his neck so he couldn't manipulate it to get to his wounds. It takes a little effort but it works. Just make sure not to tie it tighter than the collar. You should be able to slip two fingers easily between the dog's neck and collar.

options other than a cone for neutering surgery NEW
by: AnonymousLinda

my now 10 mos Coton Cody was neutered at 6 mos old. I went to the local discount store and purchased a baby onsie, long arm and leg with snaps down the legs. My Cody had surgical glue instead of external stitches. After the first 2 days I put the onsie on him with the snaps on his back. The crotch area allowed the tail to stick out. This worked wonderfully. The only thing was I had totals it off when he went outside. Then I needed to be careful that he didn't begin to scratch or bite at the area.

cone collar NEW

They do make blow up pillow ones & ones out of the soft foam that you can get @ Petco probably PetsMart also. They run around $25-$30. It seems thou that if they can lick in the plastic ones they do not have the right size on & you can also pick the ones the vet gave you a different size @ the pet stores a little cheaper.

If you r home w/them the licking usually lets up in about 5 days which you can watch & say no. In the 1st days the meds they give them for the 1st 2-3 days make them sleep mostly so u don't have to supervise to much.

Collar alternative NEW

You might try a baby onesie. But when you leave her alone, I'd definitely keep a cone on.
