Coton 12 months hair thinning NEW
by: Anonymous

My Coton was away for a month while I had surgery. During this time she was blowing her baby coat and getting adult coat. I used a dematting comb on her and SO much hair came out...She had awful mats that before I was able to handle easily..Will her hair grow back? Some of the mats were so bad she has little bald spots...I went very slow, but her hair was dry! I didn't know I should have done this with a wet coat. She looks very scraggly right now and I fee awful for her...
Will her hair grow back and what should I do about the continuous matting while she loses her baby coat and gets her adult coat?

grooming
by: Laura

as a mom of two Cotons....this is my experience...NEVER use scissors, I cut my Lizzie... I have them groomed every month and keep them in puppy cuts, they are precious. My Gracie got so matted that ethey shaved her, she grew out fine.

Is anyone (self) groomong their Coton de Tulear
by: Vicky & Jonah (Az)

I was putting questions into Coton-de-Tulear-Care.com where u can see if information has been discussed & under the title above I found some wonderful input that I had not come across before.

I loved finding more input on this website. So I hope this helps one more self groomer like myself.

Cowboy Magic Detangler
by: vh

I find Cowboy Magic Detangler at "The Stockroom" in Arizona at 67th Ave & Thunderbird. It is considered a feed store which carries dog. horse, chicken, cat food & accessories. A little goes along way & is wonderful for my hands also. Having them groomed is great but the matts come daily from that puppy hair. Thinning shears work great to cut into it & then comb out. It really does get better when the puppy coat goes away.

Great suggestion!
by: Wendy

Ordering some of that product today! If it works as well for us it will be a blessing! 6 month old Leila is matting, mostly from biting at her itchy skin, and it's hard to get her to stand still long enough to work it out. Brushing her is a trial as well. Heading to the groomer this week to try a shorter hair cut. Wish us luck! :)
