Potty training conquered, his way

by Judy

At 6 months old, I still didn't have him trained to go outside without accidents,. Even hired a trainer. Told to walk 90 min a day. Did that for a straight month, still came in and had an accident. Then read on here about treats, encouraging him to go outside. Well here we are, at 8 months and it's working. He is so smart I tell him to go outside he goes right away comes for a treat. If I think it's about time for him to poop, I tell him to go poo poo, and away he goes then back for a treat. He's always looking at me to make sure I'm watching. We did it! He comes to me and let's me know, let's go outside, and don't forget the treats

Congrats -- all that time and patience paid off. These little furballs are fond of their treats. It was the only way I could get my one to go out in the dark. hey--whatever it takes.....you might want to check the calorie content if you treat alot, I had a chubby coton for awhile. lol

Potty Training NEW

Your Coton is just gorgeous. It was a very well written, informed, detailed article. Our Granddaughter adopted a puppy who both stayed here last summer since she is in swim team. I had it bookmarked so she could reread since that was her challenge to accomplish while here.

Bill goes out and "fake pottys" for treats. Or sometimes he will be out a little, run back in and want a treat, then go back out to potty or use his tinkle pad.
Glad you furbaby is doing to well! Some are motivated my praise, some toys, and some like ours it's food!

Potty training with treats NEW
by: Shelby

This works for our Coton, Jesse, too. Immediately after he finishes his business, he looks up at me and runs over, waiting for his treat. But he doesn't do this when he has an accident inside, because he knows there is not going to be a treat for that! They are so smart!
