picky Coton Eaters

We just acquired our second Coton. Our first Princess passed away due to heart failure. Such a sorrow as we had her 13 yrs. from a pup. We have the same problem with new pup as we did the first. She hates her food. Started with Roysl Canine and now on Nutro. She just won’t eat dog food. Her palate loves tasty food and constantly follows us around smelling our Food and gets upset when we refuse. We started her off as suggested. We are at a loss.

Picky eater
by: Celine

Our Coton (Pearl) just turned one year old. She’s a very good, smart little girl, We do have problems with her eating. We have tried all different kinds of dry and can food. I have boiled chicken breast’s with carrots, celery, and peas or green beans mixed with rice. She’ll eat very well for maybe a few days and that’s it. When she does eat it basically once a day. We’ve even changed her dishes three times. Heated her food and fed her cold. She loves the outdoors and eating whatever she can find. Please help!

Picky eater

My Coton-Princess Rhylie- is just as picky. We have had her on different types of dry/wet food. Her problem is that she doesn't want her food-she would rather have ours. We have stopped giving her anything (not even a taste of our food). She went 2 days without eating before she ate some of her food. She doesn't eat much but we try to give her some wet food & dry food daily. My Coton is not large-she is one of the tiny ones. Her weight fluctuates between 7 and 1/2 pounds to 8 and 1/2 pounds. Every day we have to encourage her to eat and this as been going on since she was born. I've had her since she was 2 months old and she is 4 now. I wonder if there are some Cotons that are just this picky about food and eating?? As long as I can get some food into her daily and her weight stays between 7 and 8 pounds then it's all good. Her Doctor feels her weight is good for her tiny frame.
