Not wanting strangers near our house, especially if they need to come inside.

How can we get our cotton to accept our friends? He wants to bark at them and acts as if he's going to bite them. We've worked with him for a long time. He loves us dearly and our family when they come over. He's an only dog......seven years old,,,,,perhaps we have spoiled him since it's just my husband and myself. I wish he liked other people.

Socializing your dog
by: Iris

There are excellent trainers and programs available to socialize your dog. It sounds like he is protecting you, and his territory. A good thing.

Since he is okay with your family, he needs to know you are the pack leader, not him. When someone comes to the door command him to go to his bed or crate to stay, and you go to the door. Sounds simple but it takes patience and persistence. He needs to know you are number one dog and are the protector.

Good luck and give lots of praise for his being good and following your commands.

Love and Blessings🐶🌈❣️
PS In the beginning I went to the door with Tuffy on a short leash and held him behind me as part of this training.
