we are new dog owners and don't really know much about dogs in general and very little about Cotons. How long can we leave a baby coton?

Our gal is almost 2 and we will leave her sometimes up to 5-6 hours. A good rule of thumb is that they can hold off going to the bathroom about 1 hour for every month old they are. They are so social and crave company. II don't know many Coton owners that leave them every day and go to work. My Coton goes to Grampa's when I go to work so we are really fortunate.

My baby is 5 months old now and I started her out with leaving her for short periods of time so she would not get too stressed out and also she would learn that I am coming back. She barked in the beginning when she would be left alone since this was a new experience for her, but now she is ok with it and now I can leave for longer periods of time. I do have a long oblong pen that she stays in when I am not home, it has her bed, water, pee pee pad and a few toys, this way I know she is safe when I am not home and has everything she needs. Thankfully she does not have to spend too much time alone, I do bring my baby along with me to many places, she comes to work, shopping and visits friends with me! She is a social butterfly for sure, she is very good and loves hanging with me.
