My puppy doesn't have a sweet temperament like other Cotons

She isnt that sweet and when we play she growls all the time i think its just excited or so i read but now i am not sure ,she doesnt like to be left Alone and she sleeps in my bed she is happy to see me though she also doesnt like kisses i dont know if we haven't bonded yet considering i have had her for 2 weeks but i am concerned because i have read a lot about cotons playfulness and how its joyful but i feel like my puppy is the opposite, has anyone gone trough something similar if yes what should i do??

Coton love
by: CJ

Cotons are sweet. They do love to play and have fun. I’ve got two: a sister and brother. Lady loves rubs and a lot of play time. Coco watches until he wants to join in. Cotons can be independent and coaxing him to play works. Be patient and spend 1:1 time building a bond. Your little one and you are just getting to know each other. Treats are a good idea to teach them new tricks. My two love blueberries! Love on your pup and you’ll have a good bond in no time.

Sweet Temperament
by: Pat

I guess I was one of the lucky ones. From the day I got my Rhylie @ 2 months old she wanted to be held and loved. Constantly rolls over to have her belly rubbed. She'll get on her back feet and reach up to me to be held. Follows me everywhere and lies in my lap when I sit down. Her temperament has been like this from day 1. She also loves playing with my husband and looks to him all the time to kiss, pet and play with her. When we are out she's always looking for strangers to pet her and pay attention to her.
For your puppy I would just recommend to give her time. You've only had her a short time. It might just take her a longer time to bond. Keep showering her with love and attention. My puppy growls, too, when we play. It isn't a mean growl, just a playful growl. She'll run in circles growling over and over. I'm sure your little girl will come around and be affectionate and bond well with you.

Give your new friend some space. They don't like to be overwhelmed with kisses and hugs. My Coton is 9 months and I am still learning his language to k ów what he likes and what he does not like at all. He will not stay on my lap because he gets overheated but he likes to learn new tricks and give kisses. As you probably know kisses are sign of submission so give your pup time. You need first to be alfa dog for your pup.... I suggest good books on canine behaviour and how to teach them to be happy dog. T however he or she will always be just a dog so love your dog wisely. You will have lots of fun and the most wanderful friend that will love you unconditionally. Cheers. Yolanda

Puppy Temperment
by: Anonymous

When l got my Cotton as a puppy she didn’t like kisses or being hugged, she growled as if to say leave me alone but she never would bite me.
She is now 9yrs old and still doesn’t like me to kiss or hold her in my lap but she loves giving me kisses..
You’ve only had your baby for 2 weeks building a bond takes time just have patience.
