Teddy my coton has been eating the same food for over a year.
He had hard time finding one he could eat because of his allergies. Natural Balance limited venison & sweet potato worked but now he just stopped eating.
Shirley, That's great news about Teddy. Thanks for staying in touch.

All good advice and it never hurts to check with vet if this has
been going on for awhile. It could just be he is tired of same
food. Mine do not like the same thing more than two days in a
row.
With his allergies I don't know how many other options you may
have but I hope it is something as simple as being picky. Good
luck and please let us know how he is doing.
Any changes or upsets in the household to maybe upset him?

won't eatNEW by: Vicky & Jonah
I concur w/ both posts but myself I usually will make up little teaspoons full burgers or grd turkey & then freeze to take out when needed. Also cook a couple chicken thighs or legs since they don't need much to add on but no skin. U always can throw in white meat but the skin makes taste w/o adding anything more.
Now I'm in AZ & our heat as gone high. Jonah tends to eat less. I have always split his food amount in half & feed twice a day. He is now 7. If he does not eat in this mornings he only gets the other half at night. He does not need full amount. He will still get his 12pm collecting if he's not hungry he's just not hungry. Also if we eat less during the day hopefully we don't try to make it up at night.
In 7 yrs since full grown he has maintained his weight eating like this. I have always thou added a teaspoon on canned food or my on stuff as a little extra on food. He is 20.4 #'s gets 1 cup split & a little, little added & 2 cookies a day.
If we r in training mode for tricks & he has gotten trick tweets it is subtracted from his food amount. I'll usually use turkey lunch meat etc. If I've been grooming or cutting toenails again his extra treats r not plus food. U deduct food within reason. They really have tiny stomachs.
Depending on the food take a piece & let it sit on a plate w/a little water. See how big it swells up (approx. 2 hrs) b/c if your not using little bites it may have filling his stomach up to much. 1 last thing how r your Cotons teeth. If his teeth hurt him he won't eat.
Let us know what's happens

Dog won't eatNEW by: Iris
P.S. My Coton Tuffy is 7 years old. He will not eat or even take his favorite treat if he has to move his bowels.sometimes he need morecexercise, just walking up and down the block to stimulate his bowels. I always praise himvfor making poop and act really happy, After he goes he will drink water and beg for a treat. This is also encouragement for him to go before we get in the car to go anywhere because he live to go with me.
Good luck.

Dog won't eatNEW by: Iris
Some good advice is already here. I also would have my dog checked if he's refusing to eat . It definitely could be physical, anything from a bad tooth,an obstruction in his bowels, and like already posted, rancid smelling dog food. The oils in the food can go bad. Try boiling a skinless chicken breast. Let it cool. Then chop it up small and add some of the water you cooked it in. Your dog should gobble it up. It's still the best idea to get a check up with the Veterinarian because you love your dog and want to be sure he's not suffering or in pain of any kind. Not eating is a subtle way they tell us something's wrong, because dogs love to eat. Please stay in touch, let us know.best wishes♡

Call your vetNEW by: Gale
How long has it been since he's eaten? If it's been more than a couple of days, call your vet to make sure there's no health-related reasons. At his age, it's better to be safe than sorry.
Also, if you buy large bags of dog food, I've been reading a lot of articles lately saying that large bags of dog food can turn rancid after a few weeks which would definitely not be appealing to your Coton, so it's better to buy smaller bags.

At 12 your baby is a senior, I would get ground chicken, turkey, or beef, brown without fat or seasoning. Microwave sweet potatoes and mix with meat. He will eat and if you cook up a pound or more you can refrigerate and use all week.
