Lily's First Grooming :)

Pretty little girl with her bow!

Pretty little girl with her bow!

Lily is now 6 months old and she just had her first grooming appointment! I have to admit, I was a little nervous about it and wanted to make sure it was just trimming her up, paws, etc and nothing too short, I am sure I drove the groomer crazy about what to do and not do!! I just love her fluffy coat, she is such a wonderful little girl, full of love and a smart little thing too!! I think she is training me rather then me training her!! lol

Lily's gooming NEW

Thank you Donna for your response about the Wheaton. yes, it does answer my concern. They are so anxious about getting this new puppy I will not say anymore. Sounds like they will be fine with him.?

Lily sounds so good with everyone else in trimming, wish I could say the same for my little cotton. We love her sooo much but she can really be a handful at times.

Glad you decided on a Coton. They are just so cute, loving and funny to watch. Enjoy her and would love to see future pics of her.

Hi Sherrie NEW
by: Lily's Mom

Hi Sherrie,

Same here with Lily, I can touch her paws all day long, just as long as I don't try anything with clippers or scissors...lol, however, with the groomer and vet, she totally lets them do whatever they want thankfully!!

In regards to my Wheaton...my Dafney was a wonderful dog, I had her from a puppy, socialized her right from the beginning and she was great with people, other animals and had such a happy go lucky attitude. As far as activity level, they are active dogs, but not anything that you can't manage. I had a fenced in yard so she could go out and run around a few times a day, also, I did take her to Doggie Day Care three times a week, she LOVED it and she mostly hung out with smaller dogs while there, she was like the Momma dog at day care. So, that seemed to be enough exercise for her and she was also very much a dog that just wanted to hang out with you, she was a people dog. I would say after the first two years of puppyhood she really calmed down. I would have gotten another Wheaton, but I really wanted a smaller breed which lead me to the Cotons and ultimately to my baby Lily!!

I hope that helps in your question about Wheatons.

Lily's Feet NEW
by: sherry cotton candie

Hi again, seems most of these little babies are touchy about their feet. I'm afraid to even try and trim nails. I take cotton to the vet. where she has to wear what they call their "happy hat" (muzzle).

she is usually very laid back and loving but when it comes to feet that is a different ball game. She will bite.

While holding her we can rub her legs and touch toes, whatever and she is fine. just does not want anything trimming on her.

Lily sounds like a perfect little lady. she is very pretty and I to like her coloring, cotton has the apricot ears and spots on her back.

Would you recommend a Wheaton for a senior couple who wants a house dog? I have been told they are very active and have a friend who is waiting on one to be born to buy. They are not active people and its got me concerned. I have never seen one and know nothing about them except what i've been told.

thank you and good luck with Lily.

Grooming NEW
by: Lily's Mom

I did ask the groomer and she said she was very good! I do brush and comb Lily everyday, as well as put in her top know each morning, so she is used to the routine. However, she will not let me trim her nails and she barely lets me comb her paws...lol...and of course at the groomer she didn't put up a fuss with her paws thankfully.

Yes, I am very lucky with my groomer, I have been using her for about 17 years or so, I had a beautiful Wheaton and I lost her about two years ago, she was 15 years old.

I just enjoy my Lily so much, I am really happy I found out about the Coton breed. I feel very lucky! She is my baby girl!!

LILY NEW
by: sherry cotton candie

You are very lucky to find a great groomer. She looks beautiful and I love the long hair look also. Does she remain calm? I wish my little Cotton would not get so stressed but I have to just try my best at trimming her, which means she is never cut evenly as her head is a moving target. Takes two of us to hold her still, without alot of success.

Thanks for sharing her pic, did she keep her bow very long?
