Is it normal for a Coton de Tulear to be brown even at 7 months?

I read in a lot of sources that the Coton de tulear coloration disappears after a couple of moths but mine has been ginger all it's life. I read that it's the least desirable color for FCI, but I'm also thinking that, maybe, my dog isn't a Coton after all. The guy I got him from first told us that he's a shih tzu(as if), then told us he's a lhasa apso(yeah, right).. But, I'm pretty sure he's a Coton, just wanna rule out the possibility that he isn't. Are there any breeds that can be confused with the Coton de Tulear?

Coton colors
by: Iris Miller

Hi. Cotons come in all colors. If you look here to the left at the green list of subjects and click on Coton Photos, you will see I have a picture of Tuffy as a TRI-Color Coton, He had beautiful long flowing hair, then when he was about seven month old his hair suddenly matted so bad he had to be completely shaved down.It was very traumatic for both Tuffy and myself. His hair grew back all white except for grey on his earsm(see other photos of Tuffy now, al white. Whe I give him a bath I can see all dark spots on his skin in the areas where his colors were. I also posted pictures of Tuffy's mom and dad they are both white. Looking forward to seeing your puppy's pictures, what the name?

brown Coton?

Did you receive any papers on your puppy? Have you checked back w/the "breeder"..... The idea of posting a picture would be helpful...but; sounds, to me, you may have gotten the round-around from the breeder.

Can you post a pic so we can see the little darling? May be easier to tell that way.
