To what extent should we consider our own age when deciding whether or not to acquire a coton? How old is too old?

We are in our middle 60's and just got a Coton 2 years ago. She is a perfect older person's dog. Doesn't require tons of excercise. I walk her at least 30 minutes everyday and figure it is good for me too! I wouldn't worry so much about your age. I think you are thinking "What if I die before the dog?" Well, I know after getting our pup that there would be plenty of people willing and able to take her should that happen. The Coton is a wonderful breed!! Don't worry...enjoy life!

How old is too old. NEW

My coton is 7 months. I am 67. I guess it depends on how much energy you have. Jasmine runs me ragged but it is good exercise. I can't wait for the winter to be over so we can walk all over the place and I can take her for rides on my bike. Also to the beach. Remember you are only as old as you think you are. Good luck!

We were not yet69 and weak at the knees a day trip to the dog park and we get along just fine

I got my Coton in Nov 2012. I turned 69 the month before. If you are able to go for short walks daily I don't think you would have a problem. Lola was the best thing I ever did for mysrlf

Cotons can be expected to live about 16 years. They will adapt their activity level to their owners.
