How can you get your coton to get along with a 4 year old cat?

(Oh)

My coton who is only 8 months old is so aggressive she scares the cat and the cat takes off running to hide. Will they ever be able to be loose in the same room together?

My Coton, who is about 3 1/2 gets along with my 2 year old cat. They play together all the time because they are all they have. I got the cat when he was 8 weeks old so they have learned to adjust and love. I must say though, for a Coton, my girl sure loves to hunt....so with that said, she does SOMETIMES pull that attitude with the cat!!!

I just adopted a 3 year old cat and we had one rough night where there was hissing and barking all night long. Luc didn't want any part of the cat, but I gave him lots of attention when the cat was around and I think once he realized his food, play, and attention wouldn't be impacted, he was fine.

With a previous dog and cat I had, I made sure to keep them separated with only short periods where they were together, and then I gradually increased the length of time. Also, reward your dog when she behaves when they're together. And of course, lots of patience.

Good luck - I know it can be stressful when your pets don't get along. Hang in there!
