Homemade Dog Treats

Bill is very sensitive to certain dog foods, some people food that it is okay for dogs to have and some dog treats. We are going to step up our training and need some tiny treats that I can give several of. The two tiny training treats I found had a lot of meat or their first ingredient was Rye flour.

Bill is on a grain free diet, Taste of the Wild. The trainer told us about dehydrated sweet potatoes, which work great but are a lot of work and hard for him to chew.

Does anyone have any good treat recipes they make their dogs. Bill gets diarrhea if he eats peanut butter and chicken. Would appreciate any input! Thanks!

My Coton Tuffy is also sensitive to a lot of stuff and a very particular eater.Tuffy is a purist. He will not eat anything with vitamins or anything else added to his treats. I give him Pure Bite freeze dried liver treats. There is nothing added, it is pure beef liver. The pieces are mostly cut in about an inch or more rectangle and fit perfectly into his small Kong toy. There are a lot of smaller piecs and crumbs in the bottom of the bag, you might use for traing. I put the crumbs inside the toe of an old sock and tie it in a knot.Tuffy like to catch it and untie the knot to get the treats in the sock. I also buy the Pure Bites freeze dried chicken (though you say your dog cannot eat chicken) these chicken bites are very dry, similar to air popped popcorn and crumble very easily, It's only a sometimes treat for him, because I do give him grilled chicken or drained canned chicken breast (for human consumption).
best regards,
Iris and Tuffy

Training treats

I used Blue puppy kibble as training treats. Their small size was perfect and she loved them. Especially the blueberries.

I'm also looking for healthy treats because of all the horror stories i heard about store bought dog treats (plus they are not that healthy). My little girl loves yam. All i do is cut them in small pieces and bake them on low temperature(on a cookie sheet) in the oven until they are dried a little bit. She loves them and they seems to stay good quite a while. Its not too much trouble either..i just put them in after im done baking dinners ect..takes a couple hours to bake them.
