Has anyone had a problem with pancreatitis?

by Mary Lou
(Birmingham, AL, USA)

My coton is 4 years old and I thought he wasn't going to make it. Before it was over he had HGE - hemorrhagic gastroenteritis. He was a sick little boy. I am just curious if this is common with the breed?

pancreatitis
by: Kim Harrison

Hi
My 6 year coton has been throwing up on and off for months and now the diarrhea has started over the past two weeks. The vet gave him an infusion for dehydration and gave him fortiflora to put in his diet of chicken, rice and carrots (all fresh organic people food) He also got an antibiotic called metronidzole. he has been on the chicken diet for two weeks and still has problems. Any other suggestions regarding what food I can give him for this problem? Thank you for helping Loki

Pancreatitus NEW
by: Anonymous

My coton got pancreatitus when she was about 7 years old. She coded twice and was only given a 50/50 chance. But with excellent care from the vets she did recover. All the normal causes were ruled out. So never figured out the cause. With a low fat diet she has been fine since.

Pancrititis, different factors. Im so sorry. NEW
by: Michelle Martens

Im very sorry to hear about your baby. Makes me so sad. We have 4 Cotons, my baby "Daphne" has seizures and gets stomach aches at least 3 times a week. We are testing her for food allergies now. But, I caught her eating cat poop the other day and she went into one of her "episodes" about 30 min after. Im suspecting that there are lots of toxins in the gross fecal matter. Also, she was over immunized. We have changed vets and she is now being seen by a homeopathic Vet.

My heart goes out to you.

Pancreatitis NEW
by: Iris Miller

Dear Nary Lou,
My heart goes out to you with stmpathy.
My Coton Tuffy recently passed away at 10 years old from Sudden onset pancreatitis and inflamed liver.
This happened after an immunization booster.
Something Toxic causes this deathly disease. It could be toxins in the food, something he licked off the ground like chemicles leaked from a car or bad food or treats
I hope you have a good Veterinarian who will investifate all possibilities My dog's Vet is following up with an expert to try and figure it out and fiind answers to my questions.
Iris
