Gray skin blotches

I have a wonderful Coton named Cameron. He is 7 years old. Last year he started getting dark gray blotches on his belly from the size of a nickel to larger than a quarter. Now they are also under his fur on his back legs. They don't seem to itch. My vet doesn't know what they are and all his blood work are normal. Any ideas? Have you ever heard about this? Please help!
