Glued To Me

by Diane

My 3 month old puppy seems to be glued to me. He wants to be everywhere I am. He seems to like the central location of my office and kitchen. My husband tries to get him to stay with him either in his office or in the Great Room, but if he senses I'm around he whines and cries and tries to get to me. He settles down a bit and will stay with my husband when I'm out of the house or when he's really sleepy and wants a nap.

I will admit that I primarily take care of Teenie, but my husband does feed him, play with him, takes him out to "do his business" and Teenie is generally happy to see him.

Is there any way to shift some of his attention to my husband?

Its crazy how attached this dog is... wonder if its really a family dog. It has one person it follows all day long and has moments with the others in the family. Even if I am in one room he will move to closer to me and then lie down....

he just loves his Mommy. Same with my Stanley he is with me through out the house room to room , then whimpers when I am in the ladies room lays in the hall way waiting for me. When I leave the house everyone says he just wont eat or drink and just stays in his bed, same with the guinea pigs.

Your baby just loves his mommy..............

While Jonah growing up I was a home alot which sounds like u might be also. As puppys do they follow you around but most of the time tend to find their nitch that we r pretty boring & they will do their thing & come find us when it's midday treat time, breakfast/supper time or walk time whatever schedule you & your pup tend to follow.

Your pup & Husband will also bond to their thing & all will work out & be fine. Be patience to give your Coton time to learn your family routine.

Mine are like that also. They love daddy but when its play time or they want something it is always me they come to. I can NEVER go into a room for any length of time without them following, even in the shower they will come in and check to be sure I am still in there.

Certainly the most devoted dog I have ever had. They do make days special and keep us laughing.

My little guy is 4 now and is my shadow - and I love it! He loves his daddy, but I am the alpha and suspect that will last his lifetime.

Logan is the same way. He's totally attached to me and will follow me all over the house. If I go out he will wait by the door till I come home. He only tolerates my husband and will sometimes will go over for a tummy rub but that's far and few between. I'm responsible for Logan's care so I'm having my husband share the responsibility in hopes that Logan will become more friendly with my husband. It's getting better but it will take some time.

My Wrigley NEW
by: nymous

My Wrigley is the same way. He will look for me no matter who else is in the house, and will only settle for my husband ifI am nowhere around. He is a little over a year old and has always been this way.

Our Bailey was the same way with me and is still closer to me than hubby. Bailey is three years now and will go to hubby to be picked up and held. He goes into a do nothing mode if I am gone then comes to life when I return. Just give it a little more time.
