Constant nose to the ground

by Sheila

My Coton has her nose to the ground smelling everything. We travel extensively which changes our location. Is this normal for a 8 month old puppy.

My coton is 13 and still has her nose to the ground and the bushes. Makes for very slow walks.

Sniff walks NEW
by: Loulou

My 3 year old, Chilly sniffs more than he walks most days. In winter he even sticks his nose deep in the snow and digs to the grass to get a better sniff. Cracks me up.

Hi
Teddy is exactly the same, when we are walking it is like having a hound next to you. He is 2 and has never stopped this. I agree with the other comment that the short legs play a part in it being very natural for them.

Yes that’s normal. My 20 month still dies it. This ‘sniffing’ is an important part of any dog’s walk. As Cotons have short legs, they are closer to the ground it seems that the are doing it more than others.
Somebody told me that that sniffing is ‘wee-mailing! They ‘read’ whio has been there, what they did etc. Exactly what we so with out emails!
Hope that explains your concern!
