Looking for good
Coton de Tulear Breeders?

You may need to be a
detective to find your puppy

coton de tulear breeders Coton de Tulear breeders, rescue organizations, rare breed dog clubs, a pet store, the internet? Here's my advice...

So, you've done the research and you absolutely positively must have a Coton de tulear, and honestly, who can blame you? How do you find good Coton de Tulear breeders?

It is more challenging to find reputable breeders for rare breed dogs such as the Coton de Tulear than if you were looking for a Golden Retriever or a Poodle - but don't be impulsive, do your homework and find the perfect breeder who has the perfect dog for you. I know, I know – easier said than done.

So, where do you start?

Click on each heading to learn more.

The Best Choices:

Coton de Tulear Rescue Groups: Get a great dog and save a life, what could be better than that? These homeless, lost or abandoned dogs make excellent pets and desperately need adoptive families to love and care for them.

Reputable Private Breeders: Unfortunately, there are some unscrupulous people in the dog breeding world who don’t always have the animal’s best interests at heart. This makes finding the right breeder more of a challenge, but if you know what to look for, this shouldn’t be too difficult.

Coton de Tulear Clubs: Find clubs dedicated to the Coton de Tulear. These are great resources for finding trustworthy breeders.

The Least Desirable Choices:

Pet Stores: NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry, but I’m going to have to get on my high horse a little. I know that it's convenient and they are soooooo darn cute, but the facts are often shocking.

Backyard Breeders: These folks are amateur breeders who decide to mate and sell their puppies for profit. These people are largely uninformed about health issues and genetic problems with purebred dogs. They can mean well and can take very good care of their pets, but lack the knowledge and experience required, resulting in sick dogs or dogs with poor temperaments.

The Internet: Unfortunately, there are many sad stories of people getting ripped off or getting very sick puppies when obtaining them over the internet. The heartbreaking situation surrounding pet stores and puppy mills is most often the same situation with internet sales of puppies.
