Pink nose and eyes with no black rim NEW
by: BENTLEY'S MOM

I would not worry if with age th black doesn't appear than your pup has low pigmentation like mine. The vet said it happens...they would not be good as show dogs but are perfect as pets and best companions. It gives them their unique look and makes them more special. Just be careful of sun exposure to the pink skin around the eyes, I make sure the groomer leaves the hair long there to protect the eye area.

Nose color NEW
by: Christine

My Coton, poppy is nearly 3. She has always had a very pink nose & doesn’t have the black rimmed eyes either (those are pink also). Can anyone tell me if this is normal or if my Coton could have health problems?

Puppy nose NEW
by: Bentley's Mom

I had the same concerns with my Coton who is now 3 yrs old. I got him at 7wks when his mom refused to care for any of her pups any longer. With time his pink nose pigment turned black, however one of his eyes never fully developed the black ringed markings. I keep his hair longer over the eyes to protect his pink skin from too much sun. The vet told me white coated dogs sometimes are known to have low pigmentation. This just makes him that much more unusal than he alredy is for bing a Coton. So many people still are unfamiliar about this breed.
