my coton is drinking more water than usual and her urine is not yellow

by Chris
(Nantes, France)

Up until a couple of weeks ago she maintained a very regular "schedule" for potty and peeing. Now she need to urinate more frequently and the urine has little to no color. Where it used to be yellow. She is 8 years old and weighs approximately 7 pounds. She does not appear to be in any discomfort.

We are visiting France for an extended stay, we normally live in Virginia, U.S.

Clear urine NEW
by: janis

We brought home two beautiful and what we thought were healthy Cotons. One grew much faster than his brother. We were having difficulty with potty training, and suddenly noticed that one of our boys was peeing clear. We managed to get urine samples to our vet. That is when we learned that our smaller boy was born with mal-formed kidneys and was not going to live much longer. He did pass after a few months. His name was Simon and he was a loving and beautiful pup. Not a day goes by that we don't miss him. Take your Coton to the vet as soon as possible. I hope this is not your dog's issue because there is no cure. Be safe and check it out. Wishing you a better diagnosis and result. Cotons steal your heart and bring joy to their loved ones. Good luck!

Better water
by: Anonymous

Maybe your pup likes the flavourof the water better there. Less chlorine or flouride. Drinking more water will dilute the urine andake the pee less yellow.

Drinking woes

I see you're out of the country and a vet visit could be problematic. I know humans get dehydrated and stressed when traveling, so hopefully this is a temporary situation. If it continues for more than a couple of days, I would call your vet in the US for recommendations.
