Ear infection

Bozley has a recurring ear infection. Looks like coffee grounds. Been to vet for drops , insert, meds....still comes back. Are Cotons prone to this ear problem? Any suggestions.

To prevent infections NEW
by: Dale

My groomer removes hair in the ear canal but my coton was getting ear infections after her shower. Vet recommended drying solution that also cleans ear called Vetoquinol ear cleaning solution. I brought a bottle from him and it has a cap with a point that allows it to drip in the ear easier. I brought same thing from CHEWEY for same price s vet. But it didn’t have the same cap. I also put pieces of cotton balls in ears while giving shower to help keep water out. Anyway no more vet bills for ear infections.

Ear infection

My 3 year old also had recurring ear infections.
I used to go to the Vets for inspections and meds.
I now clean her ears every week using ear cleaning solution prescribed by the vets. A squirt in each ear, rub/massage on the outside then use a cotton pad to clean. Never use a cotton bud. Hope that helps.

I printed out a page on health problems in the Coton de Tulear.

She writes:

"Ear infections are also common due to profuse hair in the ear canal."
