Are these dogs herding dogs, guardian dogs or just barnyard dogs?

coton utility dog? NEW
by: sherry cotton candie

I agree Vicky, these little gems are so in tune with our feelings they could very well be great therapy dogs. We took the girls to a nursing home pet parade last week and cotton was a little prima dona --- running and greeting each resident as though they were there only to pet her. She continues to amaze me in knowing when I am going somewhere that she cannot go. We can no longer spell G O as she has figured that out.

Such a smart breed. I think with training these dogs could do about anything. They have the desire to please and have such devotion. Its like they know how we feel and what we plan on doing. Can really put a guilt trip on us at times. She is just my baby and I cannot imagine a day without her.

Sherri NEW
by: Vicky & Jonah (Az)

U know since this is my 1st Coton thou I did my homework. Jonah is 5.5. I know this sounds weird but I swear I will be thinking I wonder what Jonah's up to ever since he was a pup & the next thing i know I hear a patter of feet as if he reads my mind.

Thinking I may be crazy the thing is it has been going on again like I said ever since a pup.

I will bet u they would also make very good therapy dogs that detect convulsions, tremors etc.

What do u think?

Coton's are consididered majestic in madagascar, for good reason. They are bread strickly for companionship. They are not meant for anything other than that. It worries me why you would ask such a question actually.

Coton Utility
by: Anne/Glenmoore

Cotons are lap dogs, extremely adorable, love their families, and are happiest when included in all family activities.

They run like the wind, are great at agility, and love chasing squirrels, chipmunks, fox, mice. Easily trainable. Our Coton discovered a mouse outside and was so excited she was shaking. I had to get rid of the mouse because she was crying to go outside. Every time she went out, she went right to the spot where she discovered it. Hope you consider this breed for companion purposes. They are awesome.
