What are some ways to train Coton de Tulear dogs?

I'm looking for ideas on the best ways to train a Coton to sit, stay and control barking.

It really depends on the age of the dog, but my favorite basic training method is to join a community obedience class. Almost all communities have free or low cost classes available. I like these classes because it provides your dog with needed socialization while they're learning the basics like sit, come, stay. Plus if they can learn in a busy environment with a lot going on, they can learn at home when it's just the 2 of you.

I also think it's important to reinforce the training every single day. Consistency and patience is the key.
