Vaccinations

I would like to get your opinions please. I board Saylor Jane one week out of the year. Other than that, she is never exposed to other dogs that I do not know are healthy dogs. It is time to board again (headed to St. Croix) and they will not let her come with us (boo). So I took her to the vet for her check up and to get her kennel cough updated. They told me she also needs destimper and parvo. I personally feel that she is not at risk for these as she is now over five years old and has had these yearly in the past. The vet's office acted like she should really have them but I am concerned about over vaccinating. I have researched it on line but I would love to know what you guys think. Thanks in advance!

Vaccine NEW
by: Iris

Dear Denise, unless the dog boarder has a strict requirement that all the dogs they board must present proof of updated vaccinations, you really cannot be sure all the dogs your dog will be exposed to are "healthy" and not carrying disease bearing fleas or ticks . My dog had a terrible case of Lyme disease and thankfully was cure by a full month of penicillin ( subsequent titer test proved none of the Lyme disease remains ).Maybe this Vet is not a perfect match for your dog.
I would get a second reliable opinion from another Veterinarian .they are not all the same. It is easy now to research online what kind of a Vet they are .
Best wishes,

Vaccine NEW

Get e titer test, it will tell you if she needs the vaccine. I have read that once vaccinated they don't need them again. The titer blood test will tell you. I live in Tennessee also, price ranges from 45.00 to 125.00.

VETS JUST LIKE DOCTORS COULD NOT CARE LESS ABOUT ONCE HEALTH, THE ONLY THING THEY CARE ABOUT IS THE OLD MIGHTY DOLLAR.
