dealing with poop eating
by: Anonymous

our puppy ate his "sister's" (a collie)poop, not his own. Our vet said it was undigested food and smelled good. We always clean the yard so that wasn't it. We have been taking him out on a lead for awhile now and he seems to not be interested. so we will just do that for now. Plus I also make sure he isn't "starving" hungry.
Now if we could just get him not to pluck out carpet strands when he doesn't get his way.....

my puppy (almost 5 months old) still eat after the job done since the day he came home, actually our breeder had warned us!
We tried the FOR-BID but helpless. So we only pulled him out faster than him turning back.
Thinking to add some tabasco onto it if he doesn't stop.

Poop Eating
by: Cathy

Jasmine tried to eat her poop several times after she arrived. I realized she was just trying to get my attention. Once I started to reward her everytime she went potty on the pad, she never ate her poop again.

poop eating

I was never really able to stop Heathcliff from eating poop. He doesn't do so much any more since the behavior more-or-less stopped when he was 16 months old.

An interesting note -- a vet I know suggested they eat poop because they think it is food. Since the junk most manufacturers put in dog food comes out mostly unprocessed, it smells like food to them.
