New Chapter in my Life

by Maureen
(Antioch, CA)

I recently retired and found that my two wonderful cats were not much company in the afternoon (sleeping). I decided that I had the time to devote to a dog (since my corporate job had me away from home so much).

Researching breeds that matched my personality, I found the Coton de Tulear. I read everything I could find on the breed and visited a breeder 3 hours from my home. I feel in love with Mozzie the moment I saw her. She is the sweetest dog I've ever known! My husband loves her too!

I've had her for almost two months and everyone loves her and she loves everyone! The only issue is my two cats are still not accepting the puppy, but maybe in time they will come to love her as I do.

Cats and cotons
by: Adrianne

i did the exact same thing when i retired. I also have 2 cats. It is 4 years later. One cat will not stay in the same room as my chloe. CotonThe other cat will play with the dog sometimes. They all exist together. Good luck

Congratulations
by: Gale

Congratulations on your new Coton and on your retirement. I think more people should consider getting a dog after they retire because it sure keeps you active and keeps you young!

Mozzie is just adorable. My Luc is best buddies with our cat Lila. I hope in time your cats will adjust and make friends also. Good Luck

MOSSIE
by: SHERRY - COTTON

WHAT A GORGEOUS LITTLE FACE!! SHE IS ADORABLE. LOOKS LIKE A LITTLE STUFFED TOY! COTON'S ARE A VERY SPECIAL BREED AND LIKE YOU, I DID ALOT OF RESEARCH IN SELECTING A NEW DOG. YOU CHOSE WELL AND AS YOU HAVE FOUND OUT THEY ARE IN LOVE WITH EVERYTHING; AS FOR THE CATS, I BELIEVE TIME WILL WORK THAT OUT. THEY ARE PROBABLY RESENTFUL OF THIS NEW INTRUDER IN THEIR DOMAIN.

COTTON AND I WISH YOU MANY HAPPY YEARS WITH MOSSIE.

WE HAVE TWO STRAY CATS THAT HANG AROUND OUTSIDE, WE FEED THEM AND THEY WILL COME IN HER PLAY FENCED AREA AND SHE LOVES IT -- RUNNING CIRCLES AROUND THEM WHILE THEY LAY AND WATCH. IN TIME I BET MOSSIE WILL BE DOING THE SAME.

GOOD LUCK

Mozzie

Mozzie is beautiful!
Good luck with her. I am sure she and the cats will make their own peace eventually. They have their hierarchy,
Many blessings and happy days and nights with Mozzie.
love Iris and Tuffy.

Lassie & Gaston
by: Anonymous

My kitty, Lassie was 16 y/o when I brought my 4 y/o Coton, Gaston into our home. She used to chase after him on her hind legs while swinging her front paws at his hyde. Occasionally he would yelp when she got him good. I never thought they would assimilate. But it is amazing what we do for love, because in their later years they would curl up on either side of me. Transitioning to this point, I would hide Gaston under the blanket (so Lassie wouldn't pop him) and she would prance up and curl up nearly on top of him. Everybody knew the other was there, but somehow the blanket barrier made Lassie & Gaston more comfortable with each other.

Mossie

Oh, my, she is so beautiful. Reminds me of my little guy at that age and what a sweet and wonderful pet he is. You made a good decision and a wonderful selection. Enjoy every minute with her.

If the cats don't come around, it's their problem.

Mozzie
by: Deborah

She is beautiful and I know their personality is like no others....Good luck w/her. I don't know anything about cats...as I never really had one for any time...so don't know if/when they will accept her. She is a beauty!! ENJOY!!
