Need advice about a 'Coton' hair cut

Ollie is 1 and half years old and he has that wonderful full Coton mop like hair. We love it, it adds to his character and his personality. We want to let his hair underneath his eyes grow so it will lay down. But, to get to that point I feel like the sticking up is driving him crazy, or does it just drive me crazy and doesn't bother him at all? He gets his grooming tomorrow and I don't want to trim him too much, but, I do want to see his eyes again real soon. Should I just give it more time or is it best to keep it trimmed real close to eyes.

U know I keep Jonah's hair at the corner of his eyes trimmed. I use my thinning shears when I trim it so it is not such a blunt looking cut. This way I then can use my flea comb daily to comb out eye boogers. LOL lets call them that. U really also do not cut much of the hair their that seems to stick up toward the eye.

I found if I let it get 2 long their then to keep his eyes clean of the boogers I would pull on his hair the longer it got. The thing about washing it their all the time I found it stayed moist & seemed to make the eyes run more.

By combing it w/the flea comb teeth daily it is like when we wake up to get the sand man out it stays dry & removes easily. I do know their is a medicine called angel eyes but since this keeps his eyes clean w/no medicine it works for us.

I have read numerous posts on this website that angel eyes can only b used 4 a short period of time. Hope this helps.

I submitted the picture of my coton after his first haircut. Please take a look. I prefer to keep him groomed since he will always look like a puppy. Much easier to maintain.
