My dog doesn't like grass?

by Leigh

My 5 year old dog will not go on my backyard grass. She will go if she really has to go potty, but besides that she won't. I live right by a field, so could there be something in the grass that she is afraid of? My 2 year old Coton is fine with it though... Any advice?

high grass
by: Sandra-Zuri

My Zuri is 3 years old and never liked going on the grass if its a certain length. We try to keep it as short as possible and she has a ball on it. It seems when her hair is full length it bothers her more than when we have her puppy trimmed. I'm sure its just an annoyance to her than anything else. BTW, this is my first time at this site and its a pleasure to see other Coton lovers !

COTTON DOES NOT LIKE GOING IN HER GRASS IF IT HAS ANY LENGTH TO IT. HER DADDY HAS BEEN USING THE WEED EATER IN HER LITTLE PLAY AREA SO IT WILL BE SHORT ENOUGH FOR HER. WE DO NOT KNOW IF SHE HAS SEEN ANYTHING IN IT TO FRIGHTEN HER OR MAYBE IT JUST TICKLES HER TUMMY. AT TIMES I ALSO HAVE TO GO OUT WITH HER. -----I THINK THEY JUST LIKE GETTING ALL OF OUR ATTENTION AND DO THESE LITTLE QUIRKS AS A WAY OF GETTING IT, JUST REMAIN STERN IN GETTING THE POINT ACROSS THAT IS WHAT YOU EXPECT. IT WILL HAPPEN.

IN FL. SNAKES ARE ALWAYS A CONCERN SO I CHECK THE AREA OUT BEFORE LETTING HER IN IT. SHE HAS NO FEAR AND THINKS EVERYTHING LOVES HER. AS LONG AS YOUR YARD IS TRIMMED AND SAFE JUST BE FORCEFUL. GOOD LUCK!

Dogs and grass
by: Dawn

Are you going out on the grass with her? Our dog wouldn't go out in the yard if we just opened the door for her to go out, and stayed inside, but if we went out with her she was fine with it. Most Cotons are happy to be anywhere you are - even in the grass :)

Could it be there was a pesticide sprayed on it, maybe something is sticking or poking your dogs feet or chemicals burning him?

Could be she doesn't want to play where she potties.
