Fly away coat

Live in Az and it's always dry. Every time I comb or touch him his hair flys all over. Lots of static electricity. Any ideas to help with this?

Thanks,

Since I posted I have found 2 things that have worked here in AZ. First is a very, very small dab of VO5. I use it since my hair fits away after setting it curlers. I use the one fir white, Gray, blue hair. You don't even use a small dab.

Also I purchased some Viva la Dog Spa 'Rescue Me' at Petco. On the label it lists Coton Dr Tulear if their coats r damaged & dry. I hesitated at first since I keep Jonah combed out & his coat it not damaged.

I also thought it would be thick & a mess to rinse out. It was not. You let it sit for about 8 min. Which I also thought would be a pain but I started by rubbing on his butt where it mats bc if the fine cotton hair & rub in all over & time went quickly.

I did not use very much out of the tub, it applied very easy & rinse out nicely. Now I do comb him Out the day b4 a bath & after the bath while wet I reckon him Out w/a wide comb b4 blow drying to finish him off. I have to admit comb out was pretty smooth. Not perfect but better then any other conditioner I have tried.

His hair right now is about 2" all around & if I were to approximate, I can get 5-6 baths out of tube & it cost $9.99.

I use a micro blanket all yr if I get chilly & so far so good since we r now running the heat since it chilly at night.

The VO5 does work nice if bath time is not close since it is time consuming. But use less not more the size of a nail head or 1/7 size of a dime.

Merry Christmas

stolp Static With Wood NEW
by: Pat T

Wood pin brushes and wood combs do not generate static electricity. I started using wood tools when I realized that the gels and conditioners did not seem to help control static when I groom my Jazz.

Metal and plastic tools create a lot of static.

Fly aways NEW

I have had my Coton for only 5 months now and I have found it is so important to have a good shampoo and conditioner. I researched and found Crown Royale. I use Biovite OB shampoo and Condition Plus coat conditioner. I love the stuff! She is so soft and fluffy for several days with no fly away. Not to mention smells great! Good luck finding what works best!

It made me smile reading your post as an Arizonian. A bath lasts 2-3 wks until static gets real bad. U put anything with any kind of oils or creams & our dust & dirt is like a magnet.

I've tried sprays, fabric sheets, etc etc etc. Lately as I lotion my hands once it's almost soaked into my hands I run them down the coat.

I've just given up & bathe every 5 wks. I guess looking at it sensibly by 4-5 wks our light dirt won't brush out of the coat anymore anyway. (-:
