Coton de Tulear does not want attention

My coton de tulear, Jewel, does not want any attention except if there is people with food around. She will only come to the person that doesn't want anything to do with her. Whenever we give her love and affection she runs away. What do we do? Please help.

Does she sit in the same room with u just in her own space? Is her coat matted that maybe pulls when petted? Does she not come at all when called? How old? Did u get her from a breeder? Does she follow u around but is just afraid to get close? Will she take treats from u? Does she shake alot? Help us with more info on quirks. Good luck.

Thats so sad! I've never seen a dog that doesn't want to be held or seek out attention. My brother has 3 dogs and even the maltese who barks all the time loves to be held. I would continue to work with her, show her as much love as possible.Hopefully she will come around

GOSH - THAT IS UNUSUAL FOR ANY DOG, MUCH LESS A COTON. I AGREE WITH IRIS, MORE INFO. IS NEEDED. COTTON DOES NOT ALWAYS WANT TO BE HELD BUT ALWAYS HAS TO BE IN ROOM AND IN SIGHT OF ME. HOW LONG HAVE YOU HAD JEWEL?? THIS IS A GREAT PLACE TO GET HELP BUT COULD YOU LET US KNOW MORE?

Can you tell us more about Jewel? Was she a rescue dog? it sounds like she is sad, maybe mistrusting. I hope with more information, maybe someone will be able to help you with her.
