coton and children

i have unexpectedly rescued a Coton from death today. The breeder said it was flawed because it had a blocked tear duct and took it to be euthanized. The vet would not do it and here I am. This wonderful vet did the surgery for free and it was a simple success. I will be getting her tomorrow and know nothing about this sweet dog, and am very concerned about how she will do with my grandchildren. i just have so many questions.

You certainly are fortunate to have a coton. Such a simple, correctable problem. My son was born with the same problem which corrected itself in 2 weeks.

Cotons with Children NEW
by: Anonymous

Saylor Jane is absolutely WONDERFUL with my one year old grandson. She sits patiently while I untangle Cannon's sweet little hands from her fur. Saylor Jane shares lots of doggie kisses with Cannon and Cannon shares his snacks with Saylor Jane when we are not looking. I cannot speak for others but we could not have a dog that loves Cannon any more than SJ does. Congrats and good luck. This is an awesome site to ask questions, share photos, etc....

My Bentley loves my grand babies. He can't wait until my daughter gets them into the house. It's so cute how he smiles and interacts with each of them.

Coton and children NEW

My boy loves children and people. I can't walk passed any without him wanting to interact. He scouts them down. Everyone, strangers and those who know him can't get over his love for people. Puppyhood is difficult. We are still going through it. He is sixteen months. I can't imagine life without him. Good luck. You are his angel.

Angel NEW
by: Betty

Well, you were clearly meant to be an angel for this little pup! And I suspect she will reward you a thousand times over. Just remember in these early days that you have a baby and that for the next 6 months you'll go through everything you did a new mom (teething, potty training, bursts of energy followed by naps). She'll be fine with kids as along as she meets them early and they are a regular part of her life. Puppy training at 4 months will be most helpful. You'll get love and total devotion from this little pup like you never imagined - enjoy it and enjoy being her angel! Oh, and know they Cotons are as fast as the wind so always be prepared to keep them safe!

NOT GOOD ENOUGH! NEW
by: Reenie

I got my Coton puppy last September at a hugh discount price. He was almost 3 months old, obviously the runt of the litter, shy, nervous, filled with apprehension and anxiety. He had an hear the flopped backwards always and two pink eyes. He bsically just trembled.

I wasn't expecting a puppy, he just came my way by chance. The breeder gave me an overnight trial period and didn't come back for 7 days! Then he forgot what price he should charge!

Obviously I fell in love with timid CoCo during those 7 days. Since I wasn't prepared for a puppy, I had no crate. CoCo loved sleeping with mommy from day one. For several nights he shook in his sleep as though he was having Seizures. I attributed that to too many prior vaccinations too quickly.

I nursed CoCo with love, attention, love, soft sweet baby steps. He was so fragile and so tender.

CoCo has become the most adorable HAPPY puppy anyone could ever wish for. He just wants to please. He listens to my every word, so obedient! His anxiousness still persists but we get thru each episode with tender reassurance - "we are safe"!

CoCo is as energetic sensitive as is his mommy. He refuses dog food and dog treats or anything dog oriented with perservatives. So we feed him mommy's human food, apple chunk treats and use aroma therapy for flea control. Yes, he likes his Bach Remedies and Kinesiology sessions!

You're going to have a wonderful happy puppy cause you accepted her as she was!. Even trees don't grow straight. . . Nature is not perfect.

Treat your baby with love and hear her cries - each bark is her talk! Coton's never misbehave - their actions & talk will always lead you to thier intellegience. . . If you listen to their talk!

You'll love your Coton NEW
by: Wendy & Leila

Thank you for rescuing that sweet pup. It's horrifying that a breeder would think that a blocked tear duct should be a death sentence. So pleased the veterinarian refused to euthanize and you were there at the right time.

Our Leila has been very good with my nephew's young daughters, and she loves everyone she comes in contact with, maybe not immediately but warms up fast. There is a bit of anxiety we've seen, and whether that's a normal trait for this breed, I'm not sure. Getting Leila for our daughter's 21st birthday was the best gift for ALL of us. Enjoy your new pup!
