Coton from NC

Sorry It took sooo long to answer. I was away.
Bella is 2 1/2 years old. She does not have a puppy short cut because I prefer her semi-long hair...like the picture. I ask the grooming salon to cut it that way.
She weights 12 pounds and likes to eat a lot.
We say Bella is part rabbit (Seeing her back legs when she runs), part cat (she jumps onto the breakfast table, to the kitchen counter and the top of the couch.

We also say she is part chicken...because she is really afraid of storms, strong noises when something drops and plastic bags.

She has particular barks for different situations, but she really talks and tends to go to the person that she knows will understand her to communicate. If we get dressed up, when coming down the stairs, as soon as she see us she makes a long high pitch howl as though saying how beautiful we are. But she also has different pitches and sound that she modulates in various ways.
She also says yes when I ask her if she wants to go out. She moves her head or barks one time or sneezes.

She comes to me when there is somebody walking around the house and pulls on my pants or touches my leg for me to go see.

I try to bathe Bella every two weeks. She does not have a smell, only when she has a bath...the smell of wet hair.

Bella has to be combed every day to get rid of the matts. We use a brush and a comb for the matts, that way we do not have to cut the matts.

The speed running around the house or yard is very funny...Bella comes to my computer room and pulls my pants. The she looks at me like telling me it is play time!

Cel...It is funny that my mother's name is Calliope (she is Greek), and her nickname is Bella. My daughter named Bella after my mother's nickname.

I love the cotons. Her life's joy is the simple task of making us laugh.

Grooming tips

I have a 3 yr old and he loves to be combed falls asleep on my lap but i do have to comb him section by section every week or there are matts, when i find a matt i cut it in the middle of the matt and comb it out. He has so much hair that a snip here and there really you don't even see a bald spot. I am also lucky that he loves the hair dryer :)

Bella

Bella is soooooooo cute..Is that a puppy cut? how old is Bella and how much does she weigh?

My little maxine..boo hoo...she is 9months old and starting to get her adult coat..so it was only 4 weeks between last bath and tidy and this one..she was so matted.(trying to get her to sit still to comb her) so she was cut real short...she looks like a little lamb..doesn't even look like the same dog..we think she misses her long hair that would blow in the wind when she had one of her running attacks..and boy she can outrun any big dog..it is amazing..

any grooming tips?

Tuffy also does the speed run and jumping and talks. Since he was a baby he hums himself to sleep, he moans, he has squeaks and squeals and different barks.I also believe he has e.s.p. and telepathic ability.

Bella the talking Coton
by: Mary V.

Jake and Ellie do the same thing...it's like a tornado going through the house...Jake will sing with the high notes on the piano or a recorder. He also sings with the violin...not sure if it hurts his ears. They are a blessing for us every day!!! Imagine getting that kind of endless, unconditional love from every human you meet! Wouldn't life be grand!!!

Playing
by: Cel

My Calliope loves to run and play at around 5 in the morning. She is a crazy lady running up and down the stairs, on the couch, over the coffee table. She is so much fun to watch. I wish I had that much energy in the morning.

TALKING COTONS
by: Chris

If you are referring to that special little, "woof ~ woof~ woof" bark, so different from the other barking , then Lilly Belle talks also. At least, this is what we call her communicating. It seems, she so wants to get something across, especially with family and friends who stop by. It's like: "See me and pay attention to me, because I want to play"! Really very endearing! Also, she gets into her olympic gold running mode and does many fast circles around the room or the couch and it is amazing how fast she runs and corners. I believe this may be a characteristic of this special breed. She knows when she needs that exercise and does it with enthusiasm!
Just love this small breed. Very wonderful doggies!

talking

My Lizzie grunts and I call it talking....she also snores like a truck driver. She loves to be chased, runs into the shower and then peeks out.

My Gracie just runs thru the house like a crazy lady, on the bed, on the sofas, in circles. Gotta love these Cotons. She doesn't talk at all.
