Barking at other dog

by Amber

We have a new puppy who is 6 months old. We also have an older dog - around 5 years old, they get along very well.

However, whenever we take both of them to the beach to play ball in the water, the puppy does not leave the older dog alone, he jumps on him and constantly barks at him in the water. He seems to be obsessed with him when we are out of the house.

The older dog puts up with it but he can't have a relaxing swim with this going on. We have tried calling and putting him on the lead whenever he starts barking at the older dog but we don't seem to exist when he is in this mode.

Any help would be great!

I ALSO HAVE A PROBLEM WITH 'GUS' BARKING, IT ISN'T AS BAD AS IT WAS(NOW 14 MONTHS) BUT HE WILL BE FINE ON WALKS WHEN WE COME UPON ANOTHER DOG UNTIL WE START TO WALK AWAY, HE THEN GOES CRAZY, BARKING,GROWLING,PULLING AT LEASH, ALL MY CALMING,REPRIMANDING DOESN'T DO MUCH,JUST HAVE TO HURRY AND WALK OTHER DIRECTION. ANYONE ELSE HAVE THIS PROBLEM?

how to stop dog barking
by: Gale

The only think you can be sure of about puppies is that they're cute and they bark. Dogs bark for different reasons - fear, boredom, guarding, or just for fun.

Sounds like your puppy is just excited. This is real easy to fix with basic obedience training. I wonder if you've started this basic training yet.

See if these dog dog barking tips help.
